In a significant move to bolster economic ties, Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, the First Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber, held a meeting with Nguyen Huy Hiep, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Qatar, at the chamber’s Lusail headquarters. The discussions centered on enhancing the economic and trade relationship between Qatar and Vietnam, with a particular focus on fostering cooperation between private sector companies in both nations.
The dialogue aimed to explore new avenues for investment and pinpoint key sectors that could benefit from future collaboration. Al Kuwari emphasized Qatar Chamber’s commitment to supporting stronger partnerships and joint projects between Qatari and Vietnamese businesses. He also commended Vietnam for its robust economic growth, which provides a strong foundation for mutual cooperation.
Ambassador Hiep underscored Vietnam’s enthusiasm for deepening economic ties with Qatar. He revealed that bilateral trade between the two countries surpassed $860 million in 2024, an increase of $100 million from the previous year. The ambassador encouraged Qatari investors to consider opportunities in Vietnam’s agriculture, food processing, and halal product sectors, areas he identified as having significant potential for Qatari engagement.
Furthermore, the ambassador highlighted the pivotal role of Qatar Chamber in advancing Vietnamese agricultural and halal products within the Qatari market. He extended an invitation to Qatar Chamber and Qatari business leaders to attend the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2026. Scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City next September, this annual exhibition is a notable global event focused on sourcing, exports, and supply chain partnerships, drawing international companies and industry leaders from various sectors including food and beverages, textiles, furniture, consumer goods, agriculture, and logistics.
