Vietnam and Japan have reiterated their dedication to enhancing cooperation between their governing parties and legislative bodies. This announcement came after discussions in Hanoi between Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, a senior official of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Hagiuda Koichi, Executive Acting Secretary-General of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
The two nations celebrated the ongoing expansion of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, committing to intensify political dialogue and parliamentary exchanges. This follows Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s visit to Vietnam earlier this year, which set the stage for deeper bilateral engagement.
Nguyễn Duy Ngọc underscored Vietnam’s robust economic growth and continued administrative reforms. He proposed that Japan could play a pivotal role by sharing its expertise in local governance and decentralization to aid Vietnam’s institutional advancement. Additionally, he advocated for broader collaboration in areas such as human resource development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green transition, economic security, and quantum technology.
Further, the Vietnamese representative urged for stronger ties between the countries’ parliamentary friendship groups and increased exchanges involving emerging lawmakers. The Vietnamese side also appealed for sustained support for the Vietnamese community residing in Japan and suggested simplifying visa procedures. The ultimate aim is to establish visa-free travel for Vietnamese citizens in the future.
Hagiuda Koichi echoed support for expanding bilateral cooperation and affirmed that Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party and parliament would continue to foster exchanges and joint initiatives focusing on advanced technologies, digital innovation, and green energy.
