In a significant development, Vietnam and France have pledged to enhance their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by deepening cooperation across various sectors including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. Meetings held in Hanoi saw both nations reviewing advancements in their bilateral relations and agreeing to expedite their partnership action plan’s implementation.
Vietnam emphasized the need for intensified collaboration in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, critical minerals, and major infrastructure projects. In addition, Vietnam urged France to hasten the ratification of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to continue its support for the removal of the European Union’s “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood exports, which has been a point of concern for the Southeast Asian nation.
From the French perspective, Vietnam was highlighted as a pivotal strategic partner in the Asia-Pacific region. France expressed a strong interest in expanding its cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in the realms of nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, and transportation infrastructure. Moreover, France is keen on enhancing ties in healthcare and cultural exchanges, reflecting a broadening of the bilateral relationship.
Both countries committed to bolstering their coordination on regional and global matters, with a shared focus on promoting multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development. This mutual resolve underscores their dedication to addressing broader international challenges collaboratively.
