Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and State President, Tô Lâm, has emphasized the need for Hà Nội to accelerate its economic growth while maintaining a focus on sustainability and improved living standards for its residents. This call to action came during a meeting with the city’s leadership, where Tô Lâm acknowledged the city’s advancements in institutional reforms, infrastructure development, and administrative improvements. However, he also pointed out the existing hurdles such as slower-than-anticipated growth, underutilized resources, and delays in major urban projects.
In his address, Tô Lâm urged Hà Nội’s authorities to tap into dormant resources and expedite critical infrastructure projects. He emphasized the importance of bolstering support for businesses, enhancing tourism, fostering innovation, and improving public services. Among the priority areas highlighted were the reduction of traffic congestion, tackling pollution, expanding housing, and investments in education, healthcare, and digital transformation.
Hà Nội has demonstrated significant economic progress by recording an 8.22% growth rate in the first half of the year, surpassing the national average. The city now aims for a Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth of 11% by 2026.
