Vietnam has reiterated its dedication to aiding Myanmar through the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), underscoring the importance of the Five-Point Consensus as the primary framework to foster peace and stability in the country. During an informal gathering of ASEAN foreign ministers in Bangkok, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Lê Hoài Trung highlighted Myanmar’s significance as a vital ASEAN member and pledged Vietnam’s support towards efforts for national reconciliation, economic revival, and enhanced governance.
Lê Hoài Trung urged ASEAN to adopt more practical and concrete measures, advocating for consistent dialogue and direct involvement with Myanmar to better track developments and inspire meaningful advancements. He emphasized Vietnam’s willingness to collaborate closely with the 2026 ASEAN Chair and other member nations to assist Myanmar in addressing social issues, fighting transnational crime, and bolstering regional cooperation.
