Vietnam Advances Elite Search and Rescue with Cutting-Edge Technology, PM Announces

In a significant call for enhancing global disaster response efforts, Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng has advocated for the establishment of a highly skilled, professional, and swiftly deployable international search and rescue force. This initiative aims to bolster Vietnam’s participation in worldwide humanitarian and disaster relief operations. The Prime Minister’s remarks came during a ceremony commemorating Vietnam’s recent rescue mission to Venezuela, which followed the devastation of twin earthquakes.

The ceremony was an opportunity for Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng to commend the 124-member military and public security team that represented Vietnam in Venezuela. He lauded the team for their professionalism and commitment to humanitarian efforts. The Vietnamese rescue team made notable contributions during their mission, recovering 57 victims, distributing 5.6 tonnes of relief supplies, providing medical care to over 130 Venezuelan residents, and offering financial aid to communities severely affected by the earthquakes.

In addition to acknowledging the team’s efforts, Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng directed relevant authorities to focus on enhancing Vietnam’s rescue capabilities with modern equipment and specialized training. He emphasized the importance of improved coordination within rescue operations and fostering stronger international partnerships to ensure effective responses to future humanitarian crises. Furthermore, the Prime Minister underscored the need for better support and recognition for personnel involved in overseas humanitarian missions, highlighting the invaluable nature of their work.

The exemplary efforts of Vietnam’s rescue delegation in Venezuela did not go unnoticed. In recognition of their significant contributions, the team was honored with Venezuela’s prestigious Hero of Venezuela Medal. This accolade underscores the impact of their mission and the importance of international cooperation in disaster relief efforts.
