Tô Lâm was unanimously chosen by an international jury for his commitment to enhancing dialogue and collaboration among nations.
Valery Gergiev, the jury chairman and General Director of the Bolshoi Theatre, announced the award, lauding Vietnam’s swift economic growth while maintaining its cultural identity amidst global integration. The jury commended Tô Lâm’s significant role in Vietnam’s advancement, his dedication to global justice, and his advocacy for international law and peaceful dialogue in global affairs.
The jury, which included notable figures such as Vladimir Tolstoy, Pierre de Gaulle, and Lindiwe Sisulu, underscored the importance of sustaining the humanitarian principles championed by Leo Tolstoy. They also highlighted Vietnam’s transformation from a war-torn nation to one of the fastest-growing economies in the Asia-Pacific, citing it as an inspiration for countries striving for peace and sustainable development.
The Lev N. Tolstoy International Peace Prize, in its third iteration, is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to peace and international understanding. The selection is made by an esteemed international council, consisting of influential political, cultural, and public figures from countries such as Argentina, Belarus, China, France, India, Japan, Russia, and South Africa.
