Must read

Việt Nam and Singapore are poised to enhance their political trust and broaden strategic collaboration as they bolster cooperation in sectors such as technology, innovation, and sustainable development. Ahead of the Vietnamese leader Tô Lâm’s state visit to Singapore from May 29 to 31, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyễn Mạnh Cường highlighted that the bilateral relationship has transcended traditional economic connections and is increasingly centered on forward-looking sectors that promote long-term growth and regional integration within ASEAN.

Elevating their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2025, both nations have demonstrated growing political trust and shared strategic interests. Singapore continues to be one of Việt Nam’s most crucial economic allies and ranks as its second-largest foreign investor, with a multitude of active projects in areas such as manufacturing, infrastructure, logistics, finance, real estate, and high technology. A prominent symbol of their collaboration is the Việt Nam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) network, which is expanding to embrace greener and smarter industrial models in line with sustainable development objectives.

The two countries are also ramping up cooperation in cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, big data, clean energy, digital transformation, and green transition initiatives. Efforts are being made to link innovation ecosystems, technology enterprises, and skilled talent networks across both nations. Economic collaboration is anticipated to be a central theme during Tô Lâm’s visit, with a focus on deepening ties in finance, trade, supply chains, and technology advancement.

Initiatives such as “Tech Connect” are expected to fortify connections between governments, universities, research institutes, and private companies in domains including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and green technology. The visit is also projected to propel the next wave of sustainable and high-tech VSIP projects throughout Việt Nam. During his stay, Tô Lâm is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, a leading security forum in the region. Vietnamese officials view this invitation as an acknowledgment of Việt Nam’s rising international presence and its dedication to peace, cooperation, and strategic autonomy.
