Vietnamese President To Lam embarked on a significant four-day state visit to Singapore on May 28, with the aim of bolstering bilateral cooperation and furthering the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that the two nations plan to establish in 2025.
Throughout his visit, President Lam is set to engage with Singaporean officials, including President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. These meetings are anticipated to focus on strengthening economic ties, enhancing investment opportunities, fostering technology cooperation, and promoting regional collaboration.
A pivotal moment of President Lam’s visit will be his keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue, representing his first major international speech regarding Vietnam’s foreign policy since taking office in April 2026. This address is expected to highlight Vietnam’s strategic intents on the global stage.
Moreover, the two countries are actively expanding their collaboration in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation through initiatives like the Vietnam-Singapore Tech Connect Initiative. Efforts are also underway to advance the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP 2.0), which will focus on integrating smart technologies, sustainability, and green development to draw high-value investments.
This visit underscores the deepening strategic and economic alliance between Singapore and Vietnam, as both nations strive for more profound cooperation across various sectors, reflecting a shared commitment to a strengthened partnership.
