Patrick Achi, the President of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire, commenced a four-day official visit to Hà Nội on August 23, responding to an invitation from Trần Thanh Mẫn, the President of Vietnam’s National Assembly. This visit, lasting until August 26, aligns with the celebration of half a century of diplomatic relations between the two nations, which was last commemorated in October 2025.
Throughout his stay, Achi is anticipated to engage in discussions with high-ranking Vietnamese officials, including Tô Lâm, the General Secretary of the Communist Party and President of Vietnam. Additionally, he will hold talks with National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn. The dialogue is expected to center on enhancing parliamentary collaboration and boosting economic and trade ties between Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire.
Vietnamese authorities have emphasized that Achi’s visit underscores a mutual interest in broadening bilateral relations and exchanging legislative experiences.
