In a bid to bolster economic ties and attract high-quality foreign investment, Vietnam’s National Assembly President, Trần Thanh Mẫn, held discussions with the leaders of prominent South Korean conglomerates in Seoul. The talks focused on expanding cooperation in high-tech industries, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy, and sustainable development. During his meeting with Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-moon, Mẫn commended Samsung’s significant contributions to Vietnam, particularly in investment, job creation, state revenue, and support for local businesses. He urged the company to enhance its high-tech investments, aligning further with Vietnam’s economic growth objectives.
Samsung’s CEO Roh reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Vietnam, emphasizing their alignment with the country’s development priorities, which include digital transformation, technological innovation, and workforce development. Samsung has played an essential role in aiding Vietnamese businesses through initiatives such as smart factory and automation programs, as well as skills development efforts.
In another significant meeting, Mẫn engaged with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, advocating for increased investment in semiconductors, AI, renewable energy, and emission-reduction technologies. The Vietnamese leader expressed support for SK’s proposal to establish a large-scale AI center in Vietnam and its exploration of investments in energy infrastructure and AI data centers. These moves are expected to deepen the technological partnership between the two nations.
Furthering the agenda of technological and economic cooperation, Mẫn also conversed with LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo. He highlighted LG Group’s substantial investment exceeding $10 billion in Vietnam and encouraged the company to strengthen its collaboration with Vietnamese suppliers, enhancing technology and skills development. LG acknowledged Vietnam as a crucial component of its global production network, hinting at continued and expanded engagement.
Additionally, Mẫn met with Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin, encouraging the conglomerate to increase its investments in smart urban development, infrastructure, tourism, and services. Mẫn urged Lotte to expedite major projects while maintaining a focus on sustainability, green development, and adherence to ESG standards. These discussions underscore Vietnam’s strategic efforts to attract high-quality foreign investment and reinforce economic cooperation with South Korea, especially in advanced technology, energy, and digital industries.
