Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has advocated for significant reforms to the United Nations and emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation during his speech at the 81st session of the U.N. General Assembly in New York. He stressed that rebuilding trust is essential for empowering the United Nations and ensuring that all nations have a meaningful say in global governance.
Anutin highlighted that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but requires active cooperation and dialogue. He addressed regional issues by urging dialogue in disputes between Thailand and Cambodia and emphasized the need for maritime discussions under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea to prioritize maritime delimitation.
The Prime Minister also reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to supporting peace and national reconciliation in Myanmar. Furthermore, he addressed the necessity for peaceful resolutions in conflicts such as the ongoing situation in Palestine, underscoring Thailand’s stance on seeking diplomatic and cooperative approaches to international disputes.
