Thailand Boosts Air Links with Vietnam, UAE Using Advanced Aviation Technology

Must read

In a bid to bolster its international aviation ties and enhance regional connectivity, Thailand is forging ahead with strategic partnerships and infrastructure improvements. The nation recently announced collaborations with Vietnam Airlines and flydubai, alongside plans to upgrade its regional airport systems, all aimed at boosting tourism and facilitating smoother travel experiences.

Vietnam Airlines has introduced a new flight route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Phuket, which commenced operations on July 2. The service, offering four flights per week, is set to accommodate approximately 39,500 seats annually. This initiative comes in response to the increasing travel demand from Vietnam, a key market that saw over 300,000 Vietnamese tourists visiting Thailand in the first half of the year.

Simultaneously, flydubai has launched a daily service between Dubai and Bangkok, starting from July 1. Recognizing the potential for growth in this corridor, the airline plans to double its daily flights from September 15, thereby enhancing the connectivity between the United Arab Emirates and Thailand. This expansion signifies flydubai’s commitment to strengthening ties with Thailand and providing greater travel flexibility for passengers.

In an effort to further support regional air travel, Thailand is set to implement the Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) at its regional airports. This system is designed to improve air traffic management and operational efficiency, while also enhancing access to secondary cities. The initial rollout of the AFIS system is planned for Phrae and Phetchabun airports, with a target completion year of 2028. There are also considerations to extend this service to additional regional airports in the future, reflecting Thailand’s long-term vision for a more connected and efficient aviation network.
