Vietnam’s National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn has embarked on an official visit to China, signaling a mutual intent to bolster bilateral relations and enhance parliamentary cooperation. Departing from Hanoi on Sunday, Mẫn’s trip underscores both nations’ commitment to strengthening political engagement and deepening institutional collaboration.
During his visit, Mẫn will co-chair the second session of the cooperation committee between Vietnam’s National Assembly and China’s National People’s Congress. This meeting, hosted at the invitation of Zhao Leji, the chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress, aims to improve coordination between the two legislative bodies and further implement Vietnam’s foreign policy objectives.
The discussions are anticipated to focus on reinforcing parliamentary cooperation as a vital component of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China. This visit marks Mẫn’s first to China in his capacity as Vietnam’s top legislator, highlighting the long-term partnership ambitions shared by the two countries.
The trip is seen as a reflection of the ongoing efforts by Vietnam and China to enhance their political and legislative ties, thus contributing to a more robust framework for bilateral cooperation.
